Enhanced Feature Data: Now Including Yearly, Sandbox, and Churned Account Data

Sandbox Data ISV/OEM Managed Package Beta Releases Feature Rollout Yearly Data Churned Accounts
ISVapp now offers new filter options — Yearly data, Sandbox data, and Churned account data — to give Salesforce ISV and OEM partners richer insights into feature usage of their managed packages. These enhancements allow you to identify early adoption in sandbox environments, understand long-term trends through yearly data, and gain visibility into churned accounts for improving retention strategies.

ISVapp is closing out 2024 with new filter options designed to give you richer insights:

  • Yearly data

  • Sandbox data

  • Churned account data

These filters can be accessed directly from the Features tab and apply to both features and feature taxonomies:

Yearly Data

Especially for ISV partners offering highly transactional applications — such as payment, accounting, or logistics solutions — a yearly view of operations and transactions is key to identifying long-term adoption trends. ISVapp now calculates yearly usage data for all features and feature taxonomies by default. While the monthly aggregation remains the standard view, you can easily switch to a yearly perspective using the new timeframe dropdown.

Additionally, a new appearance setting under Setup > Appearance lets you make the yearly aggregation interval your default view:

Sandbox Data

When it comes to the Salesforce ISV/OEM managed package lifecycle, sandboxes often play a critical role. They allow you to test new features, address issues before they reach your customers' production environments, and simulate real-world scenarios in a controlled setting.

Additionally, your customers' Salesforce administrators may want to dry-run package updates and test new functionality in a sandbox to avoid production risks.

Typically, usage data from sandbox environments isn't representative of actual customer engagement since it's not considered production data. For this reason, sandbox usage isn't included in ISVapp reports by default.

However, there are situations where insights into sandbox usage are valuable:

  • Your customers install beta releases of your managed package in sandboxes, and you want to identify early adoption and understand which parts of the beta are being used.

  • You perform internal quality assurance and testing in sandboxes and want to configure ISVapp features before rolling out the release to customers.

  • Find out which accounts use one of your new features in a Sandbox

To address these scenarios, ISVapp now supports viewing feature usage from sandbox data. Enabling this capability is optional and can be done via the Organization dropdown, which now includes a "Sandbox" option.

To identify which accounts are using a specific feature from a Sandbox, simply use the new Organization type filter in the Account Browser.

Churned Accounts Data

In addition to sandbox and yearly data, you can now include churned accounts in your ISVapp reports through the new account status dropdown filter. This feature provides broader visibility into absolute usage numbers by including accounts that are no longer active customers.

As a result, you gain deeper insights into the entire customer lifecycle, making it easier to understand where engagement might have dropped off, address potential weaknesses, and refine your retention strategies.

Where can I find the new functionality?

These new filters are accessible in both the Features and Account tabs. You can also set your preferred aggregation level (monthly or yearly) by configuring the default timeframe and aggregation level setting under Setup > Appearance.
